Treasury Chief Secretary Danny Alexander lies about NI changes

Danny Alexander said, when speaking of the tax changes coming into force that "…it also includes lifting threshold on NI, so for people at the very bottom it is beneficial..."

This is of course not true, because the National Insurance threshold does not affect people at the 'very bottom'. The threshold means that currently those earning £847/week pay 1% national insurance on earnings over this threshold, so this change affects those earning in the region of £44,000.
